The Invention of Hugo Cabret- A captivating fiction book about an orphan boy named Hugo. He lives in Paris and takes over his Uncle Claude's job of maintaining the clocks at the train station. In order to survive Hugo steals and is caught stealing from a toy booth. He is forced to work at the toy shop to pay for the items he took. Hugo's secret of living alone is uncovered and George Meilies, the toy stand owner takes him to live with him and his grandaughter Isabelle. Eventually, Hugo creates an automation and becomes a magician.
This is a thick book that might not appeal to readers, however, once they see that the story is told through pictures their reluctance to pick it up will change. This book is simply magical and tells a tale of triumph.
